The 6 most important questions to ask when you are
selling a home.
1. Why am I selling?
2. Where am I going to live next?
3. When do I want to be in my new home?
4. What price do I expect to get for my home?
5. How much money and time
can I invest to get my home ready for sale (if improvements are
needed)?
6. If I cannot get my price within my time
requirements, what are my options?
Questions 1, 2 & 3
Sail Realty's Home Selling Checklist
provides space to answer these questions
and identify other concerns.
We recommend that each adult member of the selling household
complete the checklist separately, and then compare them.
This process will give you insight into areas of needed
discussion before and as you go through the process of selling
your home.
Question 4 -- What price do I expect to get for my
home?
You, the owner of the home, decide the price at
which your home will be offered for sale. While
Sail Realty will provide a Competitive Market Analysis
("CMA"), the final decision
is yours. Begin this process by
learning about recent sales in your neighborhood and thinking
about how your home may be different from those which recently
sold.
Question 5 -- How much money and time can I invest
to get my home ready for sale (if improvements
are needed)?
This is closely related to Question 4. As you
think about the homes that recently sold, identify areas of
improvement which your home may need to get top dollar. For
example, does the exterior need to be painted? Can some new
landscaping increase your curb appeal? Begin to
get estimates for needed work. While Sail Realty
will provide suggestions for improvements, if needed, it is
useful to begin to think about this important aspect of selling
your home. Consider your schedule. How much time
will you and your family be able to devote to preparing your
home for sale?
Question 6 -- If I cannot get my price within my
time requirements, what are my options?
It is never too early to being to develop answers
to this important question.
